UGH!! Liam's last eye exam went perfectly. We are all shocked at how Liams eyes could have gone so bad in two weeks time. None of it makes any sense. The Dr. today didn't even have the same results as the last Dr who did the exam. It's hard to explain- but two weeks ago Liams growth was good but this week his growth isn't even the SAME as the last one. He lost growth in his vessels. How can you LOSE growth?? Liams Dr came in and apologized today because he said he was shocked and didn't understand it either so he wants to talk to the surgeon himself. It just doesn't make sense.

Anway- They have moved his surgery up to tomorrow (Tues) at 5:00 pm. He will quit his feeds in the morning and get 2 IV's and get reintubated. Praise the Lord that Liams lungs are great- as he should not need the vent for long. He will hopefully wake up and yank that sucker out!

Please pray with us that Liams eyes would not be too bad for repair- that he will have minimal scarring of his vessels and that all of the procedure will go well with quick healing.

Thank you for your posts of support! It means so much to my family to see your prayers and encouragements!

I have read your post on the twin board and have been keeping up on Liam's progress through your website. I gave birth to b/g twins at 29 weeks three years ago. Things seemed great at first, but a few days after they were born our son got NEC and passed away. As you know there are no words to describe how hard it is to grieve for one child while the other is fighting for their life. The roller coaster of emotions is....
I will continue to pray for you, your family, and, of course, for Liam, who has shown us all what it means to have great strength and character.

Here is a poem that was shared with us after our son passed away. It always brings warmth to my heart when I read it.

A butterfly lights beside us like a sunbeam,
And for a brief moment its glory and beauty belong to the world.
But then it flies on again, and though we wish it could have stayed,
We feel lucky to have seen it.

Still praying for your family. Even though we've never met, I feel a special burden to keep checking your blog and praying for Liam. Perhaps it is because I too am expecting twins and because we are fellow homeschoolers in NC. Either way, God continues to lay your family on my heart.

I'm jumping over from the twin board. We think about you, Shawn and Liam often. We're praying for all of you - that Liam's eye surgery went smoothly and that he will be home with his mom and dad soon.
